Species Codex

Included below is a list of the various species we encounter throughout the story accompanied by a description of the species along with some general background information regarding their origin.

Bothan: A mammalian sentient species, the Bothan's were covered in a thick coat of hair, with the exception of their protruding snouts. Reaching up to 2 meters tall they were bipedal, but could move quickly and silently. Along with their tendency for clever problem solving, this let many to pursue careers in subterfuge. Indeed some of the best spies were Bothan. However, this love of the clandestine arts was mostly a stereotype, proliferated by certain groups to lead the public into a general distrust of Bothans. Heralding from the planet Bothawui in the Mid Rim, this species was among the first to join the Republic.

Hssiss: A predatory reptilian species believed to have a connection to the darkside of the force, the hssiss are ferocious beasts. Evolving on the now destroyed planet Ambria, the hssiss were relocated around the galaxy, likely by the Sith, who used the force to control them. They are about 2 meters tall and 3 meters long, with a 1 meter tail. They covered in horny scales and walk on four legs, each with two large 12 cm talons. Their large snout and razor sharp teeth are perfect for taring through flesh. Due to their little understood connection to the force, they often propagate around areas that are strong with the darkside of the force.

Humans: A very prolific race, humans are a diverse sentient species. Their ability to adapt to various environments and use of technology has led to their colonization of the galaxy. Although their home world is unknown, they are now the dominant population on many systems. As such, humans make up the largest proportion of representatives in the Glactic Senate of any species. Some consider humans selfish and untrustworthy, but due to their tendency to adapt to different environments, this is largely dependent upon the culture of their upbringing. Also, their diverse appearance (varying skin color, facial features, etc.) has given rise to the belief that the human race is a compilation of a variety of sup-species. This is in fact a myth as humans consist of one singular and diverse race.

Rancors: Standing between 5-7 meters tall rancors are large vicious predatory species native to Dathomir. They stand upright on two thick hind legs and have a small vestigial tail. Their legs, however, are dwarfed by their long and powerful arms which have four long fingers, each containing a 12 cm long claw. There head is large and oblong, protruding outward with a set of razor sharp teeth. They are known for eating their prey alive.

Sith: Not to be confused with the Sith Order (Fallen Jedi who followed the darkside of the force), the sith were a sentient race native to Korriban. They had deep red skin and two facial tentacles that hung from their chin on either side of their mouths. Ancient records paint a picture of a very superstitious and vindictive people once ruled by warring kings, who built large opulent tombs for themselves (in the valley of Sleeping Kings). Although they are now extinct, they were conquered approximately 6,000 years ago by the Sith Lords who subsequently enslaved them and stole the dead king's crypts for their own.

Verpine: These are a sentient insectoid species that live in artificially machined environments within the Roche Asteroid Field. Technologically oriented, the Verpine are believed to have a hive mind and a rigid caste system. Bipedal, they have two large antennae protruding from their head, which allows them to communicate via radio waves. Some believe that the Roche Asteroid Field was once their home world, turn asunder by great gravitational forces unknown. The validity of this was niether confirmed or denied by the Roche delegation and remains a mystery to this day. The Roche were early members of the Galactic Republic and were instrumental in the design of many of their fighter ships.
